Kaminario, the leading all-flash array storage provider for midrange enterprises, today announced that Kaminario K2 now features always-on, data-at-rest encryption capabilities. K2 encryption is designed to deliver absolute security and prevent theft, enabling compliance with industry and government regulations without compromising storage efficiency. Engineered with 256-bit AES keys technology, K2 protects data by requiring administrative authorization for access and ensures no data is available on drives after deletion through a cryptographic SSD erase feature. In addition, as Kaminario K2 architecture supports non-disruptive software and hardware upgrades, encryption can be added without downtime or loss of data.

Gartner estimates that by 2019, “20-percent of traditional high-end storage arrays will be replaced by dedicated solid-state arrays.”* As more companies look to adopt all-flash arrays, Gartner analysts Valdis Filks, Joseph Unsworth and Arun Chandrasekaran advise in the Critical Capabilities for Solid-State Arrays report, customers “should choose solutions that do not require extensive storage infrastructure changes and redesign, and that are backed by strong services and support with an ability to deliver product enhancements and new features.”**

One such important feature is encryption. “High data security is needed by an increasing number of industries and the ability to hack secured data becomes increasingly easy with each leap in technology,” said George Crump, founder of Storage Switzerland, “The ideal way to encrypt data is to have an encryption circuitry be an integral part of the flash-based system.”

Support for encryption demonstrates Kaminario’s continued dedication to design a best-of-breed flash solution that serves all the critical needs of midrange enterprises. “Our goal is to continue driving business value for our customers,” says Dani Golan, founder and CEO of Kaminario. “Data security is a key issue for today’s companies and we’re introducing encryption capabilities to address these concerns. We will continue to expand the installed base of K2 with capabilities and benefits, striving to meet the needs of our customers both now and in the future. Our recent $53 million funding round validates our efforts to provide a primary storage solution without compromise.”

Customer satisfaction from companies including Clearwater Analytics, a SaaS provider of investment portfolio reporting, attests to Kaminario’s continued focus on product development to deliver a long-term, cost-effective enterprise storage solution.

“Our number-one factor [in selecting Kaminario] was the cost/GB,” says James Price, director of product development at Clearwater Analytics. “We felt that many of the pure flash arrays were either too costly or not production-worthy. Kaminario impressed us as being both enterprise-ready and cost-effective. We view Kaminario as a long-term partner for our IT infrastructure.”

Support from Kaminario customer Taboola, a content management platform for high-traffic sites, validates K2?s ability to offer midrange enterprises new levels of cost-effectiveness, scalability and agility.

“Deploying Kaminario K2 as our primary shared storage in our rapidly growing US data centers enables us to deal with the demanding data growth requirements and the management of that data,” said Daniel Chen, IT director at Taboola. “Kaminario K2 met our key requirement of an efficient storage array that can scale-out and linearly increase both capacity and high performance in all three dimensions — IOPS, throughput and latency.”

At an average price of $2/GB with usable capacity, Kaminario K2 is the only true, all-flash storage solution that can be implemented at a lower cost than HDD-based or hybrid storage arrays. K2 is also the first flash solution on the market to offer companies the ability to scale-up and/or scale-out, enabling customers to start small and grow both performance and capacity as their business needs evolve.
